Day 1: Thursday

Loving God and Mental Health

Too many of us suffer silently from all forms of mental distress. How can we make the church the safest place to find support? How can we love God with our all and support one another through these struggles?

In this opening session, Roy will address the importance of mental health as a society and as children of God. Join us as we kick off the conference and begin exploring the important relationship between faith and mental health.

Roy Kim

Roy (B-Lit, MDiv, MCP) is a former pastor and now a certified sex addiction therapist. He has a private practice in Southern California where his clinical focus is treating sexual addiction and infidelity trauma, primarily through group therapy. His hope is that increasingly more churches in this generation will become a refuge and spiritual hospital for men and women with addictions and trauma.

Roy loves Star Wars, enjoys podcasting, he's a proud stepdad and has been happily remarried to Jenn for 4 years.

Jim Jung

Jim Jung is the Lead Pastor of HCC. He and his wife, Claudia, met in Southern California in the U.S. but are now wanna-be-Aussies by their own admission. They love residing in the global city of Sydney, which is full of so many “third-culture” people just like them.

Jim received his M.Div. at Westminster Seminary California and was ordained with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). He now shares his service with the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Australia (WPC). He is also the founder of Student Outreach to the World (SOW).
