Day 2: Friday
Fitness & Mental HEALTH
Exercise and fitness benefit our physical health, but how do they impact our mental health? Join us as Pastor Jim Jung shares about what the Bible has to say about our bodies and physical well-being.
We’ll also get a chance to hear from Joe Kwon, founder of ConFit, as he shares his story and how exercise played a pivotal role in his restoration while serving a 13 year prison sentence. Joe will close with an optional workout session, so please bring comfortable clothes and a sweat towel if you wish to participate. No change rooms or showers will be available.
Joe Kwon
Joe spent 9 years in prison and during his incarceration met a billionaire cell mate who not only taught him the value of education and business but also about developing a positive mindset. While he was locked away, he was able to test the limits of the body through improvising and formulating ways to train in confined spaces like his prison cell. It was also during his imprisonment that he met God. Now Joe leads ConFit, a social enterprise that aims to reduce recidivism rates through fitness.
Jim Jung
Jim Jung is the Lead Pastor of HCC. He and his wife, Claudia, met in Southern California in the U.S. but are now wanna-be-Aussies by their own admission. They love residing in the global city of Sydney, which is full of so many “third-culture” people just like them.
Jim received his M.Div. at Westminster Seminary California and was ordained with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). He now shares his service with the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Australia (WPC). He is also the founder of Student Outreach to the World (SOW).
